From Concept to Custom: A Look into the Furniture Design Process
At Laskasas, every product begins with a defined silhouette — part of our curated collection of timeless designs. These pieces are not created from scratch for each client, but they are customisable in ways that matter: materials, finishes, and configurations can be adapted to suit the specific needs of each project.

Once an order is placed, it’s translated into a technical drawing that reflects the selected options. This drawing serves as a production guide, ensuring that every detail — from veneer direction to lacquer tone — is executed with precision and consistency.

Material Selection and Preparation

Once the order is confirmed, the production team begins by selecting high-quality MDF boards, chosen for their durability and stability. For veneered pieces, natural wood sheets are carefully matched and bonded to the boards under controlled pressure and temperature, preserving the integrity of the grain and ensuring visual harmony.

Throughout the process, unused veneer sheets are kept alongside the piece, ready for any adjustments or finishing needs that may arise.

Precision Engineering

With the materials prepared, each component is shaped using CNC technology. This step ensures millimetric precision in cuts, perforations, and joinery — all aligned with the technical drawing.

Edge detailing follows: veneers are applied to borders and curves, either by machine or manually for more complex surfaces. For lacquered pieces, ABS — a high-resistance plastic — is added to the edges before CNC machining, ensuring durability and a seamless finish.

Craftsmanship in Motion

Once shaped and detailed, each component enters a phase of refinement that blends precision with artistry. Surface preparation begins with sanding — a crucial step that ensures smoothness, removes any machining marks, and prepares the material for finishing. At Laskasas, this is done using calibrated sanding machines equipped with flexible pads that adapt to the contours of each piece. For more intricate geometries, manual sanding ensures every surface meets our standards of tactile quality.
Next, our joinery team steps in. Experienced artisans install hardware, assemble drawers and doors, and perform any necessary manual corrections for complex forms. It’s a stage defined by attention to detail — where imperfections are resolved by hand, and every element is aligned with the technical drawing.
Before moving forward, each item undergoes a thorough inspection. Only pieces that meet our exacting standards proceed to the finishing phase.

Finishing and Refinement
In a dedicated finishing chamber, veneered pieces receive primer and pore filler, while lacquered ones are coated with polyester and enamel in the specified tone. Between each layer, surfaces are sanded — first by machine, then by hand — to achieve a flawless texture.

This stage is where the emotional tone of the piece is set. Whether matte, glossy, or textured, the finish reflects the atmosphere the designer envisioned.

Assembly and Delivery

In the final phase, wood meets marble, metal, glass, or ceramic. The product is assembled, inspected once more, and branded with the Laskasas logo — a mark of quality and origin. From there, it’s carefully packaged and prepared for delivery, ready to integrate into the space it was designed for.

More Than a Product: A Statement of Craft and Customisation

For design professionals, specifying furniture is more than selecting dimensions and finishes — it’s about choosing partners who understand the nuance behind every detail. At Laskasas, each piece carries the precision of industrial engineering and the soul of Portuguese craftsmanship. From initial drawings to final assembly, our process is built to support customisation without compromising quality or lead time.

Whether you're designing a private residence or a hospitality project, Laskasas offers more than furniture — we offer flexibility, reliability, and a shared commitment to excellence.

Let your vision lead. We’ll take care of the rest.
